Congratulations are in order for singer, dancer, multi-instrumentalist and all round cool guy Alex Aiono as he’s just reached five million subscribers on YouTube.
To celebrate the milestone, Alex did a livestream on the video sharing platform. Starting with a fan Q&A, we discovered his workout routine, that he looks up to John Legend, that he loves fried chicken, and he would perform a cover with a fan.
Later, he threw it back to his first video on YouTube (a basketball trick) which was uploaded four years ago. We also got to witness his first ever cover, which was OneRepublic’s ‘Secrets’. Alex acknowledged how much things had changed over the years, from his voice to the layout of his channel.
Alex went on to give away some merch to some of his loyal fans before delivering an acoustic performance of his latest track, ‘Question’. Is it possible to love a song even more than we already do?! To finish the livestream, Alex gave away more merch and thanked fans once more for their continued support.
Check out the livestream below.
Alex Aiono joined YouTube on 6 April 2011, although his first video, ‘Insane Basketball Trick Shot’ wasn’t uploaded until over a year later. His first cover, OneRepublic’s ‘Secrets’, was uploaded in August 2012.
Since joining the video sharing platform, Alex has accumulated over 578 million views. His most popular video is his mashup of ‘One Dance’ by Drake and ‘Hasta el Amanecer’ by Nicky Jam, which has garnered over 57 million views.
Whilst Alex is best known for his incredible covers and mashups, he is also a talented artist in his own right, having released ‘Work The Middle’ and ‘Question’ through Interscope Records. He has also released a collaboration with Felix Jaehn called ‘Hot2Touch’. Alex has toured his music across the States and Europe, continuing to build a supportive fanbase across the world. Alongside singing, Alex has also proven his skills elsewhere as a host on Radio Disney in addition to starring in YouTube series Royal Crush. Is there no end to his talents?
Congratulations to Alex Aiono for reaching this YouTube milestone – here’s to the next five million and more!
