Drake’s “More Life” has has surpassed 1 billion streams in the three weeks since its release.
The Canadian rappers latest project, dubbed a ‘playlist’ rather than an album, has topped the US Billboard 200 Album Chart for the past three weeks.
The playlist, a hit with both critics and fans alike, features the singles “Fake Love”, “Passion Fruit” and “Free Smoke”.
According to Billboard, hitting the 1 billion mark means Drake almost doubles the number of streams of Ed Sheeran’s album ÷, which up until this point has been the runaway success story of the year.
Released 5 weeks ago, ÷ currently has almost 600 million streams.
Should we be surprised by Drake’s latest career milestone though?
According to Billboard, Drake’s last album “Views”, is the most streamed LP of all time with more than 3.48 billion on-demand audio streams to date.
The album released in April 2016, spent 13 non-consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard 200 Album Chart and spawned the singles “Hotline Bling”, “One Dance”, “Pop Style”, “Controlla” and “Too Good”.
