Bird, the singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, with three albums under her belt is everything and more.  Killer vocals, pop beats, and a taste of classic sound makes us want more of artists like her. CelebMix had the pleasure of chatting with the singer about inspirations, sound, and everything in between.

What made you want to be a singer?
I didn’t want to be a “singer” or really for that matter a musician – I started playing the cello really young and just really took to it – it’s always been part of me – I feel like music chose me..

How would you describe your music?
Alternative pop – I love pop music but hate how bad the quality of music is generally now – so I try to make pop with quality, the way it used to be made!

Who or what are some of your inspirations for your music?
Everything inspires me – early influences include The Police, Suzanne Vega, Moody Blues, Cat Stevens, Kate Bush …

Tell us about your single “Crazy”
I feel like we are living through times of change now – people are suffering, struggling and fearful, they feel voiceless – I wanted to write a song about that…

What can we expect from your new album “Inside Out”
I think all the songs are influenced by this new social-political atmosphere we find ourselves living around – in my opinion, pop should reflect what’s going on but it shouldn’t be “preachy” – there’s also quite a lot of love and hope (or loss of one or other of them) – I just finished writing a track called Hurricane which is really personal ..

What is your favourite aspect of performing live?
Feeling a connection with my audience…

What do you want to achieve as an artist?
I just want to keep making music – striving to achieve better quality music all the time and to constantly challenge myself as an artist

What can we expect next for you?
The first single from the new album is out April 7th..there will also be an acoustic tour around London mainly, this Spring…then the new album this Autumn…
