What up New York!

Tell us about the new single ‘Rich Boy’?
I feel like our singles have created a bit of a pattern of how they come about. ‘Rich Boy’ came about in a similar way to ‘No Money’, with a little bit of a vocal. For ‘Rich Boy’ it’s actually two little 8-year-old girls that sing on the track, that was the first piece we fell in love with, the track just grew from there.

What drew the both of you together?
We’re the same creatively, we’re really high, high energy and we’re brothers together, we enjoy working together.

What’s your favorite part of playing these huge festivals?
Playing new music is our favorite part but it’s also the scary part. When you play something new and it goes down well with the crowd, it’s one of the best feelings you can have. And of course, playing the songs you know will go down well and the crowd go wild, it’s a mix of the two.

What inspires your sound?
That’s a very hard thing to answer, what inspires us. I think of late for us it’s been touring, it’s being out there and being on stage, trying to be really creative and trying to bring much of the studio to life on stage. Being on stage is a really inspiring experience, you know going around the world and sharing our music.

What artist would you love to work with that you haven’t?
We feel like Galantis is a really strong collaboration in itself… Christian and Linus! But we have a few collaborations that will be coming out soon, a mixture of big and upcoming names so watch out for those!

What is it like to be nominated for a Grammy?
Being nominated is a big deal. I’ve actually (Christian) won a Grammy 10 years ago as a producer, so it’s a really nice feeling to be nominated as an artist as well.

Favorite song to perform live?
It changes all the time but we both have a really special love for ‘Peanut Butter Jelly’. As of late, ‘No Money’ has been huge and ‘Love On Me’ has been going down really well too. Now we’ve got more music coming out – more than we’ve ever put out in previous years. It’s going to be an interesting year for us.

What do you have going forward?
A LOT OF MUSIC! More music than we’ve ever released. We’re going to be on the road more than ever. 2017 is going to be a big Galantis year. We’re looking at doing bigger shows than ever this year. We’ll be headlining Brixton Academy in April, which is super exciting. We’re working right now on the new stage design, with big drums and stuff like that, we’re super excited. Brixton Academy is one of those venues we’ve been waiting to play, it’s going to be good.
