It’s been four long years since Arctic Monkeys released their fifth album “AM”. But now, it looks like our wait for new music could soon come to an end.
Recently (Tuesday 9 May), Matt Helders the drummer from the Arctic Monkeys has shared a picture that has fans speculating. It shows his drum kit surrounded by microphones.
Rumors of the band heading back to the studio first emerged back in the summer.
“No, there aren’t really, Not yet. But there will be at some point.
I mean, we’ll see with that. No rush.” – Back in June, Alex Turner told Radio X when asked whether there were any immediate plans for Arctic Monkeys to record.
However, at Christmas, various members of the band were spotted around their native Sheffield and they admitted to one BBC reporter that they were in the middle of writing new material.

Since the release of their last album ‘AM’ in 2013, the band has been busy with side-projects. Matt Helders played with Iggy Pop for the ‘Post Pop Depression’ album and tour, while Alex Turner released an album and EP with The Last Shadow Puppets.
