Jessie James Decker’s sultry spin on this Shania Twain classic is absolutely stunning.
Not only is the country singer’s soothing voice a perfect match for the late 90s hit, we can genuinely feel the emotion behind each lyric as if she wrote the song about her own love life. The 28-year-old has always been public when it comes to her marriage to professional football player Eric Decker. If you’re searching for the true definition of relationship goals, look no further.
When it came to covering Twain’s Grammy Award-winning track, it was no brainer for Decker. “She is probably my biggest idol in country music,” the “Wanted” hitmaker told Nash Country Daily. “I will forever be in love with her. She’s one of the reasons I think I can do what I’m doing in this genre. She made people that didn’t love country music, love country music. It wasn’t just America, it was international and she has inspired me so much. I really wanted to cover one of [Shania’s] songs. There is something so intimate about ‘You’re Still the One’—it’s just so beautiful. The lyrics are so simple, yet so powerful. So it was really great to be able to sing that one.”
Decker just dropped her latest EP Gold last week. The record quickly hit no. 1 on the iTunes Country chart and Top 3 overall within only hours of its release.
