Mel & Sue Reportedly In Talks to Host The Nightly Show

The faces of Bake Off are will reportedly make their mark on ITV’s new late-night chat show.

Mel and Sue, hosts of the BBC1 sensation The Great British Bake Off, are set to host ITV’s new chat-a-thon The Nightly Show, if gossip is to be believed.

The presenting duo, consisting of Mel  & Sue Perkins, are described as “two of the most popular people on television” by a Mail on Sunday source, and ITV are said to be “desperately hoping” to woo them and are “keeping their fingers crossed” that the loveable duo can “turn this [The Nightly Show] around”.

The duo haven’t been left twiddling their thumbs since Bake Off ended its BBC run with 16 million viewers last year – Saturday night saw them front Let’s Sing and Dance for Comic Relief on BBC One. It’s hoped their charm can lift The Nightly Show out of a ratings rut. The new experimental chat show was met by a mixed viewer response, but ITV have insisted that “it’s still early days” and they are “trying something new” as it “extends the primetime entertainment feel of ITV beyond 10pm.”

CelebMix's TV fan loves little more than watching people press buzzers, get fired or come to blows over a can of soup in the Australian jungle. If it's a big reality format, he's watching - oh, and the horror genre's great too.
