Toronto Pride is one of the biggest and longest running Pride events- celebrating 35 years! Throughout Pride month members of the Orange Is The New Black cast have shown support for the LGBTQ+ community. To end the month, they appeared at Toronto Pride to show their support.
The ladies took to the streets of Toronto on a giant orange Netflix float. Turning up in a ray of colors, they truly showed love and support for all their fans. They joined in with the celebrations, dancing and having a general good time. They reminded people to be proud of who they are and to love who they love.

How does the cast appearing at Toronto Pride hold significant importance?
Orange Is The New Black is probably one of the biggest Netflix shows out there. Combined with an event that has thousands of attendees means a lot of recognition. Therefore, this leads to a widespread amount of awareness for the LGBTQ+ community. The cast embodies happiness, freedom and acceptance which is a handful of reasons of what Pride is about!!
The characters are proudly openly queer woman. With predominantly lesbian and bisexual woman on the show, it means that this is not as foreign as it once may have seemed. This makes OITNB a perfectly suitable show for representation of woman in this community.
Fans of the two best friends on the show saw a lot of #Flaritza love shared throughout the day. Jackie Cruz and Diane Guerrero (Flaca and Maritza) posted countless adorable pictures of them celebrating the day. Their amazing friendship is definitely clear off screen too!

Every day is a battle for acceptance and freedom in the LGBTQ+ community. Pride month allows everyone in the community and supporters know that they do not need to hide. With a well-known cast making an appearance, as a result, this contributes towards a society where anyone can feel safe being themselves.
