We recently went to one of Chris Leonard’s headline UK tour dates on his ‘Roots’ Tour which is being organised and run by View My Gig, a company who pride themselves in showcasing upcoming talent.
You will more than likely remember Chris as an eighth of X-Factor boyband StereoKicks, who unfortunately are no longer together.
However, this does mean a budding solo career has now formed for Chris. The Roots tour has already been to cities including Brighton, London and Manchester and is heading to Glasgow and Dublin.
Chris gave an exceptional performance, both on vocal abilities and on the entertainment side. With a great balance of covers and original songs, Chris gave the perfect intimate performance for fans whilst really showing how talented he is. Opening with an energetic performance of Stitches by Shawn Mendes, this provided the perfect opportunity for Chris to set the tone for the entire gig, and he did this wonderfully.
Stitches was performed with contagious energy and it goes everyone dancing and excited for the evening ahead. With a mixture of slow songs and more upbeat songs, there was something for everyone. Our two favourite covers from the night were Ed Sheeran Tenerife Sea and Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus. Every lyric in Tenerife Sea was sung beautifully and you could hear just how meaningful Chris made the lyrics sound.
Chris closed his set with Teenage Dirtbag, which with his own twist sounded incredible, and ended the gig on an extreme high. We were very impressed with Chris’ constant interaction with the audience, creating a very intimate gig. Seeing how happy Chris was on stage and interacting with fans just showed how at home Chris is on stage, and we can’t wait to see more of him in the future!!
View My Gig organised the day perfectly, and they provide an amazing opportunity for upcoming, unsigned artists, allowing them to showcase their talents and perform to crowds of people. Chris gave an amazing performance, and we can’t wait to see what this year holds for him! Have you attended any of the Roots tours? Let us know below or at @CelebMix and tell us what you thought!
