Shawn Mendes will unveil new song ‘There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back’ this week

There is nothing holdin’ Shawn Mendes back from toying with our emotions.

The Canadian crooner took to social media on Monday to post a bleary image playing guitar. Underneath the photo, he revealed a hashtag that indicated a never-before-heard single was on the way.

Mendes captioned the shot “There’s nothing #HoldingMeBack.” Included was a link to his official website where a countdown to Thursday is immediately displayed.

Just weeks ago, he teased an unfamiliar track that fans are now speculating is a snippet of “Holdin’ Me Back.”

We may have a few days to go until we are able to hear the full bop, but already know it has been in great company. Both John Mayer and Niall Horan contributed the teen’s post, commenting “heard it love it” and simply “tune.”

This will be the latest from Mendes since his sophomore album Illuminate dropped last year. He is currently gearing up for a world tour to support the record, which debuted atop the US Billboard 200.

“Things are getting a little more urban feeling,” the 18-year-old spilled to The Courier Mail during an interview earlier this month.” I’m getting more into that Justin Timberlake type of feel while still staying singer/songwriter. It’s interesting. It’s still so new, I’m not exactly sure where things will go. The best part of music these days is you’re not locked down to any specific genre. You can follow where your heart and your musical sense takes you.”

The “Ruin” singer also revealed that he has written “a ton” of new material and although will be busy out on the road, hopes to have it released by the end of 2017.
