Actor Anton Yelchin, who is known for his role as Chekov in the ‘Star Trek’ reboots, has died at the age of 27 following a freak car accident occuring in his home, TMZ reports.
The actor has risen in popularity following his appearances in several major movies, including the most recent ‘Star Trek: Beyond’ which is set to be released in July.
According to TMZ, Yelchin passed after getting pinned between his own car and a brick mailbox at home, the car of which was still running when he was discovered hours later. He was discovered after he didn’t turn up for a rehearsal, which resulted in concerning friends visiting his home in San Fernando Valley in California.
Actors and fans all over the world have been paying tribute to the young actor, taken well before his time.
