Anglo-Irish country music singer-songwriter Tony James Shevlin has officially released his brand new album, ‘American Odyssey’. The aptly-named record contains a selection of stunning new songs and has been released via Oh Mercy Records.
The new album from Shevlin was written while on the road back in 2015. 2015 was the year that the veteran performer embarked on a 3-month tour of America. During the run of live shows he performed in 17 States, and 21 cities, and drover over 11,000 miles in order to promote his LP ‘Songs From The Last Chance Saloon‘.
During his time on the road Tony James Shevlin was hoping he would be inspired to write a few tracks for his new record, as it turns out he manged to write the whole entire ‘American Odyssey’ LP while touring. Speaking about the process, Tony says: “I’d been in the country about a month, having traveled from Nashville, Tennessee up through Kentucky to Chicago, Illinois and across to St Louis and Kansas City, Missouri when the first song came. After that it was like the flood gates had opened and I couldn’t stop writing.”
The results of his writing sessions, and the trials and tribulations of life on the road, are captured in a set of songs that draw on classic country, gritty rock, and swampy blues rock. The album is an outsider’s love letter to the US. ‘American Odyssey‘ is out now!
