Today it has been announced that The Xtra Factor has been axed. The ITV2 X Factor Spin-Off will no longer be shown on TV, but instead will move online. This comes as a result of The Xtra Factor’s declining views and support over the last few years.
The Xtra Factor aired after X Factor on ITV2 and showed behind the scenes footage of every stage of the competition as well as exclusive chats with the judges, presenter and contestants. Nevertheless, we won’t miss out on the exclusives for the upcoming X Factor seasons as they will still be uploaded online.
Last year’s season of Xtra Factor was used as a trial for this new approach. Roman Kemp, a presenter on Capital FM, was Xtra Factor’s social media correspondent. This role had never existed before but obviously proved a success because it is rumoured that Roman will remain the digital presenter when the content moves online.
Previous Xtra Factor presenters and past X Factor contestents have taken to Twitter to share their commiserations.
