Zoella: A Year In Review

Zoe had a huge year in 2015, she was absolutely everywhere. From her having her own wax figure at Madame Tussauds and her ‘Tutti Fruity’ makeup range coming out, just to name a few, she was taking on pop culture. It was expected that 2016 was set to be a big year for her and she certainty didn’t disappoint.

Let’s look at some of the things she has been busy working on this year.

Zoe started off the year on a major high as her main YouTube channel ‘Zoella’ hit 10 million subscribers! YouTubers who reach 10 million subscribers are sent a diamond play button which is currently the highest award there is.

This year Zoe expanded her product range and launched ‘Zoella Lifestyle’. It includes things such as candles, diffusers, and stationary. A Zoella apartment was created to launch the range with all of the new lifestyle products. Her friends alongside some lucky subscribers were able to check out the new products first. In addition to all that, Zoe also brought out another Zoella Beauty Christmas range which features a brand new scent. We cannot wait to see what products Zoe may bring out next year!

Throughout the year Zoe has also been featured in a lot of shoots for different magazines. She even graced a few front covers, the most popular being Cosmopolitan. More recently she teamed up with Tanya Burr for a Christmas themed shoot for Dare magazine. Judging from their behind the scenes videos, the shoot looked like it was incredible.

Another defining product for Zoe has been a series of books, the first two being ‘Girl Online’ and ‘Girl Online On Tour’. This year she launched her third book, ‘Girl Online Going Solo’. She spent a lot of time signing pages for the books which meant that some of her lucky viewers were able to have their own signed copies.

Along with her love of writing books, she also enjoys reading them. Which is why this year Zoe Zoella: A Year In Review 3teamed up with WHSmith to create her own book club where she recommends books for you to read. So far she has created two selections of her favorite books which have done very well. A lot of subscribers have created their own videos reviewing and unboxing the book club picks. She also earned her own Twitter emoji for when people tweeted with the hashtag #girlonlinegoingsolo, #goingsolo or #zoella which was pretty cool!

Alongside all of that, Zoe has been able to update her blog every now and then. She wrote a very honest post in October updating everyone on her anxiety. She explained how she has seen an improvement in it this year and how people around her have been able to see the changes. It was a really uplifting post and is full of a lot of positive thoughts.

She says, “Nobody should settle with anxiety being a big part of their identity, it isn’t. Anxiety is not your life and it’s not who you are, it’s just a small part of you that doesn’t have to be so loud.”

With many other YouTubers, Zoe also worked with the charity Stand Up To Cancer to raise some money for the amazing cause. For this, she took part in a wardrobe clearout. People were able to place bids on items of her clothing – and she always looks fantastic. Some had even been in shoots and on the red carpet! The money raised then went to Stand Up To Cancer.

“The clothes I chose to give to Stand Up To Cancer were things I don’t wear often enough but still love … It’s so amazing to think that these clothes will help raise money to fund incredible research which will help save lives.”
