Our favourite pop-punk squad 5 Seconds of Summer continue to tease their new album with the release of latest track ‘Boyband’.
The track is an ode to their fans and a playful nod to the label that’s followed them throughout their entire career. Speaking about the song, the band said: “We’ve always been called a boyband and this song is about us owning that narrative and taking the power back.”
The synth-laden track features an interesting commentary on fame, and is a self-reflective and self-aware release from Luke, Michael, Ashton, and Calum. With lyrics such as “Take my photograph and lick it with a wet tongue” and “Raised on pop punk and bubblegum, stay young, love me till I get it wrong”, ‘Boyband’ is a punchy offering from 5SOS, allowing them to rock out without taking themselves too seriously.

‘Boyband’ follows on from the release of lead single ‘NOT OK’, both of which are taken from their highly anticipated sixth studio album, EVERYONE’S A STAR!. The album is due for release on November 14, marking the band’s first official new music since 2022.
