What else should I know about Benjamin Ingrosso?

Benjamin Daniele Wahlgren Ingrosso, better known as just Benjamin Ingrosso is a Swedish singer-songwriter who at only twenty years old, already has a fair bit of experience under his belt.

For the singer-songwriter, performing is in his blood as he comes from a family of singers, actors and dancers. He was born in Danderyd in Sweden to parents Emilio Ingrosso and Pernilla Wahlgren, a dancer and singer respectively. As well as this, Benjamin’s cousin Sebastian Ingrosso is a member of the Swedish House Mafia, a band most known for their hit single “Don’t You Worry Child”.

As a child, Benjamin performed in many musicals before auditioning for Lilla Melodifestivalen in 2006. This national final was held to choose a representative for Melodi Grand Prix Nordic (a Scandinavian song contest for children aged eight to fifteen). Benjamin won his national selection with “Hey Sofia” and went on to place fourth overall in the contest.

In 2007, twenty-two years after his uncle Linus Wahlgren recorded and performed the song, Benjamin released his first single “Jag är en astronaut”. The song peaked at number two on the charts.

After appearing in various musicals over the years, Benjamin announced in 2014 that he was to focus purely on his music career. The same year he participated in Let’s Dance 2014 and won the competition alongside Sigrid Bernson.

In 2016, Benjamin released his first single in nine years called “Fall In Love” before signing a record deal with TEN music group. He then entered Melodifestivalen 2017 with the song “Good Lovin”, finishing fifth in the final after losing out to winner Robin Bengtsson. Not one to settle, Benjamin returned to the contest this year, winning with his laid back but catchy song “Dance You Off”. He will, therefore, be off to Lisbon next month to compete in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.
