Marvel fans have been eagerly anticipating the day they could finally snatch their tickets to see Avengers: Endgame in theaters. With many of their superheroes such as Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Captain Marvel, and more coming together to finally defeat Thanos, fans can’t wait to see what happens in the MCU especially after that devastating ending in Avengers: Infinity War.
On Tuesday, April 2nd, tickets for Avengers: Endgame went on sale, and not surprisingly, fans reportedly crashed ticket selling websites such as AMC Theaters, Regal Cinemas, and Atom Tickets.
“We’ve never seen anything like this – it’s truly a groundbreaking accomplishment – as fans simply cannot wait to see how this epic saga comes to a close,” Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis told Entertainment Weekly.
Within six hours of going on sale, Marvel fans helped break a pre-sale box office record previously set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens. According to EW, Avengers: Endgame accumulated more first-day pre-sales than any other movie in Fandango’s history. Among the top five pre-sales, three movies are within the Star Wars universe, while two are now in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Top Five Movie Pre-Sales:
- Avengers: Endgame (2019)
- Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015)
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017)
- Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016)
- Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Last month, Marvel released a trailer for Avengers: Endgame showing its first glimpse of Captain Marvel with the team. To announce the sale of tickets, the company also released a “special look” trailer revealing more scenes from the movie, such as Tony Stark’s reunion with Pepper, as well as Iron Man and Captain America finally setting aside their differences to save the world.
You can catch Avengers: Endgame in theaters when it releases on April 26th. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now.
