Avengers: Infinity War left us all in shock when its cliffhanger left many of our favourite characters dead, thanks to Thanos’ devastating snap. This film set records for the highest-grossing weekend by already crossing $1 billion globally on the Saturday, becoming the fastest film to reach that achievement.
For a year, fans have been anxiously waiting to see what has become of their much-loved characters, especially the Original Six; Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr), Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner), Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth) and Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo).

The Avengers have been left to deal with the catastrophic fallout of Thanos’ deed, wondering how they can move on and try to keep the remaining civilians safe. With Tony Stark adrift in space with no food or water, they must try to bring back their allies to bring down the ruthless Mad Titan Thanos.
The film has already smashed the records set by its predecessor and other films by taking $1.2bn (£929m) in ticket sales around the world. This Marvel blockbuster broke the $1bn record, becoming the fastest film to do so in just five days.
It has surpassed 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens for the highest-grossing opening day by over $38 million.

Endgame is the 22nd film in a long line of Marvel films after beginning with Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man back in 2008. We have seen the Avengers, alongside other popular characters, battle many villains such as; Loki, Ultron, Malekith, Ronan the Accuser, Dormammu etc.
Since 2008, we have seen these characters grow in each film and watched how each one tackles their own story in their solo movies as well as the group ones. It makes Endgame a poignant, complex, emotional ending for some and the beginning of others.

Disney‘s Chairman Alan Horn commended the fans and Marvel in a statement, after the news of Endgame‘s box office sales:
“Kevin Feige and the Marvel Studios team have continued to challenge notions of what is possible at the movie theatre both in terms of storytelling and at the box office.”
“Though Endgame is far from an end for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these first 22 films constitute a sprawling achievement, and this weekend’s monumental success is a testament to the world they’ve envisioned, the talent involved, and their collective passion, matched by the irrepressible enthusiasm of fans around the world,”

Avengers: Endgame directors and brothers, Anthony and Joe Russo added, “We poured our heart and soul into Avengers: Endgame, hoping to tell a story that would inspire audiences around the world.”

“Our family of cast and crew felt honored to be entrusted with bringing the Infinity Saga to a close. To Kevin Feige, everyone at Disney and Marvel, and the incredible, global community of fans – thank you.”
Endgame has received many positive reviews so far from fans, critics and has a current 96% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. If you thought Infinity War was a must-see, then Endgame is the ultimate follow up that blows everything out of the water.
