Avril Lavigne Has Signed With BMG For Her Soon To Be Released Sixth Album

Released on all her social media, Avril Lavigne has dropped a promotional video teasing album number six. She also reveals that she recently signed with BMG.

This will be her first album in four years; her fifth eponymous studio album was released in 2013. She took some time out to battle Lyme Disease, which is why there is so much excitement around her new album. Her most recent release was “Fly” in 2015, which was a charity single for The Avril Lavigne Foundation in support of the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games. She also featured on Nick Carter’s All American album track “Get Over Me”; as well as ONE OK ROCK’s Ambitions album track “Listen”, on the Japanese version.

In the promotional video, Avril Lavigne says: “For this album, I have a new team behind me, and I just signed with BMG. I’ve been working really hard on the new music and it’s a reflection of my journey over the last few years. At this point in my career and in my life, I just wanted to put, like, fresh energy around me, and I feel like I’m having somewhat of a rebirth in my life. I’ve been faced with a lot, gone through a lot, emotionally.

She goes on to say: “The whole writing process has been therapeutic, and empowering. Without trying to make an album; I’ve made one.

The video sees Avril Lavigne playing at a piano, looking through the music sheets. At one point, she picks up a guitar and plays that for a short few seconds. She can also be seen writing on the music sheets.

The video also confirms what Avril Lavigne previously stated in her Instagram posts. New music is to be expected this year. The ending scene shows the BMG logo, with “New Music 2017” text below.

Avril Lavigne announced in December that her new album will be released in 2017. Since then she has been posting potential new lyrics on Instagram.
