Toronto-born singer-songwriter benny mayne has been a longtime favorite of ours. With his recognizable blend of sensual R&B and hip hop, he instantly became one of our main tips for up-and-coming artists of the year. That’s why we have interviewed him at the beginning of the year, just when he was first breaking through with his second single “basic b*tch”. A couple of months, five tracks and one million streams later, the singer is back again with a brand new track.
benny mayne’s latest release marks his first collaboration with Canadian hip hop artist Terrell Morris. The track is titled “dollas” and might just be his best one. Groovy, smooth and wonderfully laid-back, “dollas” showcases benny’s abilities to transcend the genres while still creating hit melodies. The lyrics are -as usual- straight-forward. “You do it for these dollas, dollas, dollas”, benny sings during the catchy chorus while calling out a girl who uses him for the money.
“dollas” is a seamless blend of styles like no other and we cannot wait to hear more of benny in the future.
