Beyoncé has joined forces with J Balvin and Willy William for a remix of their summer smash, ‘Mi Gente’.
In addition to appearing on the remix, the songstress has revealed that she will be donating her proceeds to hurricane and earthquake relief charities. These include CEMA, UNICEF and Somos Una Voz for Puerto Rico, Mexico and other affected Caribbean islands.
Taking to Instagram, Beyoncé posted a picture of herself with the caption, “I am donating my proceeds from this song to hurricane relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico and the other affected Caribbean islands.” She also provided a link with more information if you want to support the cause.
A number of communities have recently been affected by hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, whilst Mexico was hit by two deadly earthquakes. Earlier this month, Beyoncé and her daughter Blue Ivy returned to the singer’s hometown of Houston to support those affected by Hurricane Harvey. They handed out meals and supplies to the residents whilst Bey also spoke to a group of survivors at St. John’s Church. Additionally, she took part in the Hand in Hand telethon, whilst her husband Jay-Z’s streaming service Tidal will be holding a benefit concert on October 17.
‘Mi Gente’ is Beyoncé’s first single since giving birth to twins Rumi and Sir back in June. The track mentions the victims of the recent earthquake and hurricanes in the lyrics, with Bey singing: “Lift up your people/ From Texas to Puerto Rico/ Dem islands to Mexico.”
A fun visual for the song has been released which sees a number of people dancing along to the track. It also includes cameos from the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Martin Garrix and Steve Aoki.
