Britney Spears is one hard-working woman. When she isn’t performing her residency show in Las Vegas, she isn’t taking time to rest either. She keeps herself busy in the studio while recording new music as she is currently working on her ninth studio album. Right now, the plan is for the album to have a release date in early 2016.
Hip-hop producer DJ Mustard worked with Spears on a song earlier this year. He told Digital Spy the music was “harder than hard” and appeared to confirm the 2016 release during a Q&A session on Twitter. When one fan asked him if his song with Spears would be released soon, he responded with a simple “yep.”
Other details, such as the song’s title and release date, are under wraps at this time. It’s likely to be Spears’ follow-up to her collaboration with Iggy Azelea, “Pretty Girls,” which was released earlier this year. That song peaked at number 16 in the UK and number 29 in the US. Radio reports Spears’ upcoming album will be a mix of pop and hip-hop, based on the producers who have worked with Spears.
After the album is released, Spears won’t have a lot of free time. She signed a deal to extend her residency with her show in Las Vegas through 2017.
