Nasty Cherry are an all-girl rock band, discovered by pop connoisseur Charli XCX, who released their debut single ‘Win’ earlier this month under XCX’s label Vroom Vroom Recordings
Nasty Cherry burst onto Twitter on January 1st 2019, introducing themselves as ‘the best band of 2019’. They received love and appreciation from none other than Charli XCX in an exchange of tweets. It was later revealed that XCX discovered the girl band and signed them onto her label Vroom Vroom Recordings, an imprint of Asylum / Atlantic Records.
Since January, Charli XCX has been encouraging her fans to start hyping up for Nasty Cherry’s first official release, and in March the all-girl band finally unveiled their debut single, ‘Win’. With their first musical release, critics were keen to give their opinions by judging off Charli XCX’s opinion, and practically no one was disappointed. The girls have been described as ‘half Spice Girls, half The Runaways’.
Lyrically, ‘Win’ is about coming out of a toxic situation as the better person. In a sense, it’s all about winning hence the song title as well as the word being sung consistently throughout the song. A song-writing method their number one fan, Charli XCX is familiar with. XCX is a co-writer of the debut single.
As to what’s next for Nasty Cherry, they have just dropped the music video for ‘Win’ and are looking forward to releasing more music and performing live hopefully across the globe someday so get into them.
