To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 2013 release of their mega-hit, “Tsunami,” DVBBS returns to the underground on their new single/music video, “Breathe,” featuring Jesse Jo Stark of the Chrome Hearts fashion family.
DVBBS shares, “Since we put out our first global hit, ‘Tsunami,’ 10 years ago, everything that happened afterward was a wild ride. We are stoked about bringing Jesse Jo Stark with us. She’s one of the dopest upcoming acts with a voice and presence that will take you down a full journey into her world of melody, fashion, and rock n roll… and let me tell you her world is like nothing that you have experienced before. We are looking forward to what the next 10 years will bring.”
Jesse Jo Stark says, “‘Breathe’ makes me want to thrash around naked and release all my demons! it’s a sexy wet paradise!”
Made up of brothers Alex and Christopher, DVBBS arrived in a big way in 2012, followed by collaborations with renowned names from diverse musical backgrounds, such as blackbear, 24kGoldn, Jasmine Thompson, Belly, NERVO, Juicy J, Galantis, Cody Simpson, Aloe Blacc, Icona Pop, and GASHI.
With hundreds of millions of streams, DVBBS has performed at the world’s elite music festivals and premier clubs, including Tomorrowland, EDC Las Vegas, Ultra Music Festival, Hakkasan Las Vegas, Ibiza’s Amnesia, and Ushuaia.
In 2014, Jesse Jo Stark worked with former Sex Pistols guitarist, Steve Jones, to record her debut EP, Down Your Drain, followed by her 2017 single, “Driftwood.” She then released her second EP, Dandelion, and went on to tour both the US and internationally, supporting acts such as Guns & Roses, The Vaccines, Sunflower Bean, and The Heavy.
Her full-length debut, DOOMED, is a high-drama movie in the form of an album, the kind of immediate cult classic that inspires unending infatuation.
Rolling out on percolating tones riding a thumping kick-drum, “Breathe” flows into a dark, underground melody brimming with almost industrial percussion and waves of low-slung, throbbing harmonics. A wickedly intense drop, full of edgy surfaces, is followed by reverting to the thrumming elements.
Stark’s haunting, spectral vocals imbue the tune with eerie, spellbinding tones, infusing the song with Siren-like suggestions.
Breathtaking, “Breathe” smolders with shadowy energy, rubbing against the pounding beat as if ready to ignite and explode.
