Dwayne Johnson Clarifies “Jumanji” Rumours

In case you’ve been living under a rock, the movie event of winter 2017 is on it’s way and thanks to Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, we now have some more exclusive details about it.

A re-imagining of the 1995 classic, “Jumanji,” was recently announced which made us think that the upcoming movie would simply be a reboot, but we stand corrected. The producer and lead actor has taken to Instagram to clarify rumours that the new movie would be, “a continuation,” and a sequel of the original.

Finished strong and on to the next. That's an officially wrap on #FastAndFurious8. Thank you to our director @fgarygray for the vision and execution. Thank you UNIVERSAL for being tremendous partners as always, thank you to all my fellow co-stars for the daily effort and grind. Scott Eastwood you handsome sumbitch! Natalie Emmanuel I have a cold Budweiser ready for you and Tyrese Gibson you still have the biggest smile and forehead I've ever seen.? And a huge THANK YOU to our hard working production crew – the backbone of our business. Your kind words meant a lot to me last night – thank you! In the end, we all rallied, as great teams do, kicked ass and will deliver an amazing movie to the world. Proud of our entire FAST FAMILY. And now in two weeks I'll reunite with ol' friends Kevin Hart & Jack Black and we have the honor to introduce a whole new generation to the amazing world of #JUMANJI. *(for the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome JUMANJI story). It's also crazy to me how much me, Kev and Jack look like triplets when we're together. ??????. Man this is gonna be FUN. #WheelsUp #ThatsAWrap #FromFastAndFurious #StraightIntoJumanji #BigBrownBaldTattooedMan #DarkChocolateComedicRockStar #BrillaintCrazyCurvyCaucasion #TheseHashtagsAreRidiculous #INeedSleepAndCARBS #ButIWillSettleForTequila

Yo.. Lots of positive ?? chatter now on something I should've clarified months ago when we announced we were making JUMANJI. This new movie will NOT be a remake or reboot of the original. It will be a CONTINUATION of the awesome JUMANJI adventure 20 years later. As a producer on this movie and someone who loves the original, you have my word we'll honor the legend of "Alan Parrish" and properly introduce a whole new generation to the fun and crazy JUMANJI universe that so many of us loved and grew up on. Our director Jake Kasdan and lead producer Matt Tohlmach are focused and ready go. They also have no f*cking idea what they've gotten themselves into by hiring Me, Kevin Hart and Jack Black aka "The Cray Cray Triplets" as the stars of this movie.?? Shooting begins in 4 weeks. And on a personal note, it's such a cool thing for me to bring the production of this movie to Hawaii. The positive ripple effect it has on local businesses and families in terms of creating jobs and additional income makes me very happy. I grew up on the island thru hard times and good times, so it means a lot to this local boy. Hell, I used to steal a Snickers candy bar every day from 7-11 when I walked to the gym as my pre workout meal when I was 14yrs cause I was too broke to buy one. When I return to Hawaii, I will go back to that 7-11 (on Kapiolani Blvd) and finally buy that Snickers bar after all these years. Then I'll proceed to my psychiatric therapy session cause clearly I'm still messed up over that broke time in my life. #JUMANJI #HAWAII #SonyPictures #SnickersForTheWholeCrew

Dwayne wrote that the new movie would, “not be a remake or reboot of the original. It will be a continuation of the awesome Jumanji adventure twenty years later.”

Alongside Johnson himself, Kevin Hart and Jack Black have been confirmed to star in the movie and there are also rumours circulating that Nick Jonas will be joining in on the fun too. We can’t wait!

We are also excited to see how the sequel will honour the late Robin Williams, whose portrayal of character Alan Parrish in the original title was one of his best known and most loved roles. Back in May, Johnson said, “the love and respect I have for him [Robin] is boundless. You have my word that we will honour his name and his character will stand alone and be forever immortalised in the world of Jumanji in an earnest and cool way.”

Production is expected to begin in the next couple of weeks with the movie scheduled to impact in December 2017.
