Despite being super famous and having over 7.2 million Instagram followers, Ed Sheeran has revealed that he hasn’t had a phone in over a month! Crazy, right?
The singer recently told Ellen, from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, that as a new year’s resolution, he is living a life away from the technology.
“I got rid of my phone as my New Year’s resolution,” Ed told Ellen.
“I bought an iPad, and then I just work off of email, and it’s so much less stress. Now, I don’t wake up in the morning and have to answer 50 messages of people asking for stuff. It’s just like, I wake up and have a cup of tea.”
Clearly, Ed Sheeran is not one of those people who just keep to their resolutions in January, he has stuck to his decision, and has stayed away from his device
The 25-year-old singer told Ellen that he has proudly stayed off the grid for over a year now.
However, Sheeran’s much simpler lifestyle is not his first attempt to take a step back from technology.
Just over a year ago, the “Shape of You” singer, took to Instagram to announce his tech withdrawal.
He wrote: “Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while…
I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last five years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes…
So I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I missed.”
Thankfully, Ed has recently reappeared on social media!
Therefore, he is just in time to start creating a buzz for his new album, Divide.

Last month, during an appearance on BBC’s Radio 1 Breakfast show, Ed Sheeran explained why he chose not to have the most top of the range phone anymore.
He said: “I have an addictive personality — you can see from the tattoos,”
“So, my New Year’s resolution was to get off social media.
I’ve got one of those little drug dealer phones — untraceable burners. I told Adele I got a flip phone and she thought I was taking the mick out of her.”
Overall, Ed Sheeran- with or without a phone ,we still love you and cannot wait for Divide!
