Eliza and the Bear are back with a brand new sound. When they first started their careers their songs such as ‘Light It Up’ and ‘It Gets Cold’ quickly became festival-friendly anthems with sing-a-long choruses and feelgood lyrics, but now they have returned with much more of a pop sound while still retaining their bouncy vibe.
Eliza and the Bear’s latest track ‘Higher’ has a jittery dance sound and parping horns which is mainly down to music producer Hight, who has worked with the megastars including the likes of Rita Ora and The Tide. Their new style is quite a turnaround from their old stuff.
Their folk vibe has now been replaced by a more funky pop sound not too dissimilar to the likes of DNCE, Maroon 5, and Nile Rodgers. Proving that all artists have to have the courage and commitment to take a risk if they’re going to have a risk that pays off. And in Eliza and the Bear’s case it has paid off handsomely.
Talking about changing their musical direction guitarist Martin, says: “We played some shows that made us realise that we were willing to take those odds. We started over and went back to my dad’s fishing shed, maneuvering around the boxes of bait and tackle, to write ‘Higher’, which came from nothing but feeling free and wanting to play the most fun music we could make!”
