Elliphant is an artist who has lived more than 9 lives. In the past, she has worked with Diplo and Skrillex, released collaborations with MØ and Loreen, and has written with people like the Grammy-nominated songwriter Joel Little (“Tennis Court”, “You Need to Calm Down”) or Ava Max’s collaborator Cirkut.
In collaboration with her new label Milkshake, a division of Sony Music, the Swede is now ready to write the latest chapter in her career. In case you were, like us, a big fan of her more introspective second record “Rocking Horse”, be advised: Elliphant is now ready to turn up the heat again.
On Friday, Elliphant released her brand new song “TRENCH” which follows the balls-to-the-wall tonality of her first lead single “THERAPY”. The WDL-produced single is a raw and unapologetic release that “goes out to all my witches n bitches , trolls n my goblins.” “TRENCH” artfully mixes electronic trap with grime-y elements and almost feels like a war cry. “I am endangered / shadows out there try to cut my tongue“, she sings right at the beginning before erupting into a powerful chorus: “I am hiding in the trench…I built up a defense / mind your own fucking business“. Elliphant is ready to go to war with other people so she can keep her inner peace. Talk about setting boundaries, are we right?
“TRENCH” packs a powerful punch and we are more than ready to see what is next.
