Goldensuns have recently released their latest single ‘Shook’ which is their first single since their debut EP Give It Up was released in 2016. This track is a part of their new project, an EP called Dedandra, which is expected to be out later this year. Their highly anticipated return has already satisfied fans and excited listeners for what they will hear next. In an exclusive interview with CelebMix, Goldensuns opened up about their new single, tour and more.
What can you tell us about your new single ‘Shook’ and its meaning?
Shook is a song we have been working on for quite some time. It is about trying to decide how to act and hold yourself when dealing with a difficult relationship and not knowing what the other person is thinking.
Is this a good preview for your new EP coming later this year?
We feel like this definitely represents a sonic quality to the overall record. We also wanted to come at this EP with a more eclectic approach to the writing. We have been working on it for so long that our influences and feelings have changed so much over the span of the writing and that has definitely had a huge impact on how the EP turned out as a whole. Some of the songs on this EP are 3 years old and some are as new as [written] a couple of months [ago].
Speaking of the EP, is there anything you can tease about it to continue to excite your fans?
I think the rollout plan we have for it is really cool. We would like to release at least a couple of singles over the next couple of months to keep peoples eyes and ears on us. I know we all really like the songs and I hope that people find them fun and interesting enough to keep coming back to them and stay excited to see what is coming next.
You just recently wrapped up tour. How was that experience with Warpaint?
It was the most incredible tour we have ever done. They are such close friends of ours and they made it really easy for us. We had a blast every single night watching and being with them. We can’t say enough about how incredible they are as a band, but people first and foremost.
How does it feel to be back and releasing new music?
Incredible. It feels like it has been forever. It kind of has been actually. It feels really exciting to be able to show people what we have been working on for so long. More than anything, we can’t wait to start playing these new songs live and seeing how people respond to them. It’s one of the best feelings ever to put out something new and see people get excited about it. The feedback puts so much gas in our tank to keep going.
If you could tour with any artist in the fall, who would it be and why?
I think all of us would have a different answer for this one. Dream tour would be Sade, MGMT, Wild Nothing, Pond and us somewhere in there. That would be an unbelievable experience. There are just too many artists we would love to join on the road.
