Sheppard are back with new music after their smash hit “Geronimo” and several other successes over the past few years. Amy Sheppard of the band took the time to speak with CelebMix about the group’s new single, career highlights and even touring dreams.
Amy’s body positivity movement, “#kissmyfatass,” has inspired fans and people all across the world to embrace their bodies and love themselves. This movement then inspired their latest single and in an exclusive interview with CelebMix, she explained that story and more.
What can you tell us about your latest single “Kiss My Fat Ass” and its message?
“Kiss My Fat Ass” is the single which eventuated out of the accidental Instagram movement I created called #kissmyfatass. It’s a song about celebrating individuality, loving the skin you’re in and rejecting the impossible beauty standards set by the media.
How has your music evolved over the past few years?
We’ve grown up a lot. Sheppard began 8 years ago, so it’s natural that our music has been ever evolving. We have learnt a whole lot about songwriting and producing and I think that shows.

What would you say has been a highlight or memorable moment of 2019 so far?
I think filming the “Kiss My Fat Ass” music video was the highlight of my year thus far. It was such a unique and special experience of women supporting women. I will remember that day for the rest of my life. It’s an incredible thought that it will continue to support other women for years to come once they see the music video.
In terms of new music, can fans expect another album coming soon or is that still in the works?
I think fans can most definitely expect new music. We are working on music every day and have a couple of tracks up our sleeve. Although we don’t want to rush it, album three is in the making.
Your single “Geronimo” blew up and has over 300 million streams! What was it like to see that track become so popular?
It’s a strange feeling. That’s a lot of ear holes! When we wrote “Geronimo,” we could have never guessed what that song was going to do… but we are so grateful for all of the joy it has bought us and others.
You have toured with some major acts and icons in this industry. What was it like to tour with people like Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift?
It’s a great experience being a part of such a mega tour. You learn a lot about how these things run, what to do and what not to do. Performing in a stadium is vastly different from performing in a small theatre, so you have to quickly learn how to adjust.
Speaking of touring, if you could tour with any act next year, who would it be and why?
Collectively, Sheppard’s dream is to open for Coldplay. They are such incredible artists and their heart and souls into their live show. We would have a lot to learn from them.
What can fans look forward to in terms of new music, visuals or anything else you all can tease?
We have more singles coming and of course an album. Although I can’t promise the full album this year, we are currently prepping on the next single release.
