Indie pop band Fuel on Fire is releasing their new track, “Figured You Out” tomorrow (Feb. 1), and CelebMix has the exclusive premiere.
“We co-write a lot with each other and with outside writers, but “Figured You Out” is a rare solo write by Ben (guitar/vocals),” the band said.
The band is made up of four brothers- Ben, Edward, Joe and Kurt Doerfel, who grew up in Buffalo, NY, and were classified as a bluegrass band. They have been making music together since they could hold instruments. The bandmates are only four of ten siblings.
Now living in Nashville TN, since 2017, Fuel on Fire plays electric instruments and consider themselves a pop group.
“Figured You Out” comes after the group’s recent EP, Them. The EP is filled with cover songs from the band’s favorite artists. This single is an original and the band is pretty excited about it.
About the new track, the band said, “The thought behind the lyrics to ‘Figured You Out’ is from the perspective of a guy who has fallen for a girl who’s a really good friend already. For some reason I was thinking of the movie Elf and how Buddy the elf picks up the girl from her apartment and has to buzz her from downstairs. I just liked the picture of the gentleman picking up the girl in that old-fashioned way. The track started with a bouncy-buzzy synth bass and a beat that felt like a video game. We’re all gamer junkies so the song really has that vibe.”
