On Thursday, November 8th, the stars of Fantastic Beasts and the Crimes of Grindelwald showed up for the movie’s premiere in Paris, France. There have been many premieres to kick off the second installment of the series, and both the cast and screenwriter J.K. Rowling have shown up to quite a few.
Ezra Miller, who plays Obscurial Credence Barebone, stole the show in his over-the-top outfit. His eccentric, padded gown may be a reference to his character. In the movie, Miller turns into a black swirling vortex that is unpredictable and different because he is repressing his magic and feels like an outsider.
Miller’s outfit was a black padded quilt-style gown adorned with a hood and cape, much like the ones worn by Hogwarts students. The star also wore deep burgundy lipstick and black leather gloves.
While the outfit certainly makes a fashion statement, it also has a deep meaning behind it. Ezra Miller, 26, recently revealed he was ‘repeatedly assaulted’ as a child for being gender ambiguous. This outfit proves that he refuses to let the haters win. He is comfortable in his own skin and shines on the red carpet. He is certainly warm on a chilly night in Paris.
Here’s another look at the outfit by Pierpaolo Piccioli x Moncler.
On Twitter, Miller and his outfit soon became a trending topic on social media.

I guess you could say everyone thought this look was “fantastic.”
The rest of the cast showed up in suits or dresses, but Ezra Miller’s outfit is definitely one that will be remembered.
If you’re a Harry Potter fan, make sure you go see the movie, which is out on November 16th.
