‘Fantastic Beasts’ Sneak Peek Introduces the American Wizarding Community

With the movie release date approaching steadily at five months to go, Harry Potter fans are rejoicing all over the world – more so with the release of new footage from the Fantastic Beasts’ Twitter and Facebook account.

For those who are unfamiliar with the origins of Fantastic Beasts, it is a textbook required for all first-year students at Hogwarts. It was on Harry Potter’s list of supplies to buy at Diagon Alley in The Sorcerer’s Stone.

My heroes are always people who feel themselves to be set apart, stigmatized or othered.

“That’s at the heart of most of what I write, and it’s certainly at the heart of this movie.”

J.K. Rowling admits that she became fascinated with the character of Newt Scamander while writing Harry Potter.

As a “magizooligist,” Newt Scamander travels the world to study magic creatures.

In the video, the audience is allowed a further look into the plot of the movie, including Newt’s magical case and the other characters of the film.

Eddie Redmayne, the actor behind Newt, says that his character feels “more at home with creatures than he does with human beings.”
