Gig Review: Shawn Mendes, Shepherds Bush Empire

On Tuesday 15th September I attended Shawn Mendes’ concert in London’s O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.

As soon as we got to the venue we instantly saw youtubers meeting people outside which straight away made me even more happier and excited!

After meeting them we joined the end of the standing queue which felt like it went on forever, but we were only queueing for around half an hour after the doors opened. Most of the staff were lovely and chatted with us which made us feel very welcome.

Gig Review: Shawn Mendes, Shepherds Bush Empire 2

Once we were let inside we found our way to the best place to stand and then waited for the support act to come on.

The support act was called James TW and he was amazing! He performed a few originals, a cover of Hey ya by Outkast and then a mashup of Steal My Girl and Hold Back The River which the crowd loved.

After about half an hour the crowd started chanting for Shawn to come out and he did, the screams were deafening!

He started off with Something Big which is definitely one of his most upbeat songs, everyone loved him! They were singing along so loud, but a bit too loud, I couldn’t hear Shawn a lot of the concert.

There was a lot of crying throughout his ’emotional’ songs like A Little Too Much and Never Be Alone… I definitely did not cry! Pfft what are you talking about?

The whole night was a success and Shawn sounded amazing even though he was feeling ill, although the venue wasn’t the best place. They try to cram more people in than there should be.

The staff made sure they gave out plenty of water to the fans and took care of us all pretty well, thanks Shepherds Bush!

Overall I thought the concert was brilliant and the acts were very very talented as well as both Shawn and James only being 17 years old. The staff were lovely all though the venue was not so much.

If you ever get the chance you need to see Shawn live! You’ll love it.
