Guyville is the new indie rock meets Americana duo composed of singer/songwriters Kat Hamilton and Emily Hulslander. The Los Angeles Valley based band has just shared their latest single “Should Have Never Dated” and it is a catchy one.
In “Should Have Never Dated”, the two have created an intoxicating musical experience that highlights the disappointment and sadness which often occurs after a breakup. The track features honest and engaging lyrics filled with contemplation and regret. Sonically, “Should Have Never Dated” impresses with grunge filled guitar riffs, pop-punk basslines and a climatic soaring chorus. The song was written on a North Hollywood couch and centered around “bad experiences of dating music collaborators and bandmates.” confides Kat Hamilton of the band.
The band Guyville was formed in 2020 and was named after the famed Liz Phair album Exile in Guyville with both members Kat and Emily finding commonality for their love of 90s alternative rock. “Should Have Never Dated” is the second single off of their forthcoming album set for release later this year.
