Wasteland, Baby! by Hozier has debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 album chart and the ‘Shrike’ singer is still in shock.
Although we are only three months into 2019, Hozier has had quite a successful year already. His full length studio album, Wasteland, Baby!, was released on March 1st via RubyWorks/Columbia Records and has been receiving lots of attention.
During the success of this album, he is also currently touring with Jade Word and doing what he loves most: performing original music for his fans. The tour will continue until the end of November.
Currently, life is busy for Hozier and in terms of the number one album, the singer is only humbled by the achievement. He spoke to Billboard Pop Shop Podcast and opened up about his feelings on everything happening this year and the album itself.
“I genuinely didn’t think that this was going to happen,” Hozier revealed to Billboard about the album’s placement on the charts.
The ‘Take Me To Church’ singer believes this album is what he feels was right for him to create at the time and that the songs came from a “personal place.”
“I think it’s an eclectic kind of group of songs. I’ve always said that they’re all little 14 different viewpoints all sitting in the same wasteland, or sitting around the same awful bonfire,” he told Billboard.
Wasteland, Baby! is Hozier’s sophomore album and also the first rock album to top the Billboard 200 in over three months.
