Ina Wroldsen X Alok Combine Forces On New Single “Favela”

A lot of new music has dropped this week, but one of our favourite artists, Ina Wroldsen, has dropped another banger of a track by combining forces with renowned DJ, Alok! The new song is titled “Favela” and it is a total jam. It follows up Ina Wroldsen’s previous single with Steve Aoki “Lie To Me” and Alok’s collaboration with Armin van Buuren & Vini Vici “United” which features Zafrir.

Ina Wroldsen is a Norweigan singer-songwriter who is best known for writing a bunch of hits. She’s written songs for The Saturdays, Shontelle, James Arthur, Clean Bandit, INNA, Anne-Marie – the list is endless. She’s been attempting a singing career for a number of years, but it wasn’t until she signed with Simon Cowell’s label Syco, that she’s managed to gain success with her own songs. Before signing, she hit it big with featured spots on global anthems which were “How Deep Is Your Love” by Calvin Harris & Diciples, “Places” by Martin Solveig, and “Breathe” by Jax Jones. She’s definitely a rising star and we are following her every step.

As for Alok, full name Alok Petrillo, he is best known for his worldwide hit “Hear Me Now” which was in collaboration with Bruno Martini and featured Zeeba. He’s one of the biggest DJs around the world and has toured internationally. He is destined to have another global hit – could it be this “Favela” with Ina Wroldsen?

This song was written by Edvard Erfjord and Ina Wroldsen whilst production was handled by Alok and Edvard Erfjord. A lyric video was dropped alongside the release of the single. Talking about the song, Ina Wroldsen said: “I wrote ‘Favela’ after watching a documentary called ‘Stuck’, it focused on women in South America and the struggles they face. ‘Favela’ is my tribute to girls growing up in societies that don’t offer up the opportunities that a lot of us take for granted. This song closes in on a reality that is not mine, I am an outsider and an observer and I hope that I have treated this with the respect and dignity that it deserves. I truly believe that where you are born is just a matter of coincidence and women’s rights is a cause that is very close to my heart.”

Alok added: “The song ‘Favela’ is not about violence, it’s about poetry. It is not about suffering, it’s about determination. It is a sample of one of the thousands of stories full of identities that exists there. Stories of people full of dreams just like ours, exemplified in the lyrics by a character with many yearnings and who struggle to write, without any support, his own story.”

Watch The Lyric Video To Ina Wroldsen X Alok’s “Favela” Here:

This is a flat-out end-to-the-summer anthem as tropical beats and flavours are dropped in the backing track to the song – Alok fully impressing and completely adding his sound to the mix. Ina Wroldsen is as passionate as ever as her voice dominates throughout and completely tells the gripping storyline. Her vocals are on-point from start to finish, and it’s clear this song means a lot to her.

The lyric video keeps the audience engaged as it literally and metaphorically tells the story of the words of the song. It takes us into a world we don’t quite know but totally want to find more about.

“Favela” is available to download and stream right now through Simco Limited. We can’t wait to see what Ina Wroldsen releases next, as every single song to-date has been perfection.
