James Rothschild and Nicky Hilton’s Party Sparks a Power Couple: Huma Abedin and Alex Soros Say “I Do” in the Hamptons

It’s not every day a romance between political royalty and philanthropic elite kicks off at a birthday party—but that’s exactly how Huma Abedin and Alex Soros met. Their first encounter happened at a glamorous bash thrown by banker James Rothschild for his wife, Nicky Hilton, back in 2023. Fast-forward less than two years, and the couple tied the knot in a high-profile Hamptons wedding that blended style, substance, and serious star power.

The weekend-long celebration took over the Soros family’s estate in Water Mill, New York, and brought out a who’s who of politics, fashion, and entertainment. Hillary and Bill Clinton were there (Abedin remains one of Hillary’s closest confidantes), as were Vice President Kamala Harris, Jennifer Lawrence, Sienna Miller, and Vogue’s Anna Wintour. James Rothschild and Nicky Hilton were, of course, in attendance, witnessing the marriage that started with a simple introduction at their party.

The private ceremonies honored both Abedin’s Muslim background and Soros’s Jewish heritage, with a quiet Nikah and Ketubah signing. The next day, despite a drizzle that could’ve put a damper on the festivities, the main event went off beautifully. Huma stunned in two different custom gowns—one by Givenchy, the other by Erdem—both featuring deeply personal details, including stitching that paid tribute to her late father. Alex opted for a sleek Dior tux and was said to be teary-eyed as she walked down the aisle.

Guests sipped signature cocktails and dined on a custom menu curated by catering impresario Olivier Cheng. Boyz II Men performed, sparking some impromptu dancing on the marble-floored outdoor tent, and the couple chose to forgo traditional party favors, instead inviting donations to a cause close to Abedin’s heart: Vow for Girls, which works to end child marriage around the world.

Abedin, known for her polished style and steely calm, has spent years navigating the chaos of American politics, most notably as Hillary Clinton’s longtime adviser. Soros, 39, is the son of billionaire George Soros and now heads the family’s Open Society Foundations, channeling funds into democracy and human rights causes across the globe. Friends say the two bonded over their shared commitment to public service, mutual respect for their cultural roots, and an unexpected but undeniable chemistry.

Their wedding was part statement, part celebration – a reflection of two lives lived very much in the public eye, now joined with intention. Despite the layers of influence and legacy on both sides, insiders describe the vibe as refreshingly low-key, with guests commenting on how genuinely in love the couple appeared.

In summary, Huma and Alex’s story proves that sometimes the most high-profile love affairs begin in the most unexpected places—like a birthday bash thrown by a Rothschild. From that chance meeting to a rain-soaked dance floor in the Hamptons, their wedding was as elegant as it was deeply moving and personal.
