KIHYUN’s ‘So Good (English Version)’ tells a different story while preserving the original’s emotional spirit

Following the release of his BORDERLINE EP earlier this month, KIHYUN isn’t simply translating one of its standout tracks – he’s giving it a second life, as the English version of his latest release, So Good, retains the soaring rock-pop energy of the original while reframing its emotional core, allowing the song to resonate with an even broader audience outside of his native home.

KIHYUN has long been recognised as one of K-pop’s strongest vocalists, as he has been a member of Monster X since its inception, and So Good is another reminder of why, as rather than relying on vocal acrobatics alone, he builds the song around sincerity. His voice moves between reflection and explosive choruses, carrying the weight of every lyric without sacrificing the uplifting momentum that defines the track.

What makes the English version of his song interesting is that it doesn’t feel like a direct translation. Instead, it tells a different story while preserving the original’s emotional spirit. The familiar melody remains intact, but the new lyrics shift the perspective, creating a song that feels fresh rather than recycled. It’s a thoughtful approach that demonstrates confidence in the songwriting instead of treating English lyrics as a simple commercial exercise.

So Good’s guitars, percussion and polished production give the song an optimism running through the arrangement, even as the lyrics explore vulnerability, emotional growth and the lasting impact of meaningful relationships. That balance between heartache and hope has become one of KIHYUN’s greatest strengths as a solo artist.

The release also feels like a natural continuation of BORDERLINE, an EP that explored identity, self-reflection and personal growth through a refreshing rock-focused direction. Rather than stepping away from those themes, So Good (English Version) expands them, inviting you to understand Korean, and to connect with the same emotional honesty that made the original so compelling.
