LISA is officially entering a new chapter, and it looks charming, romantic, and unmistakably cinematic. The BLACKPINK-famed global superstar is set to headline a new Notting Hill–inspired romantic comedy feature for Netflix, marking her first leading role in the genre. The film comes from acclaimed writer Katie Silberman, known for Netflix’s Set It Up and Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart, and reunites LISA with The White Lotus executive producer David Bernad, who will produce through his Middle Child Productions banner.
While Netflix has kept the official logline tightly under wraps, sources say the project took shape on the set of The White Lotus Season 3. Bernad and LISA reportedly bonded over their shared love for Richard Curtis’ 1999 rom-com classic Notting Hill, starring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, which famously followed a world-famous actress falling for an ordinary bookstore owner. That shared affection eventually evolved into a full-fledged feature, with Silberman brought on shortly after to write the script.
Given the inspiration, expectations naturally lean toward LISA portraying the superstar half of a modern celebrity-meets-civilian love story. Whether the film sticks closely to the original dynamic or flips the fantasy on its head remains to be seen — but either way, it positions LISA squarely at the center of a globally appealing rom-com revival.
The yet-untitled project continues LISA’s expanding relationship with Netflix. She recently made her acting debut as Mook in The White Lotus Season 3, earning praise for her natural screen presence. She is also starring in TYGO, a high-stakes action thriller set within Netflix and AGBO’s Extraction universe, opposite Ma Dong-seok (Don Lee) and directed by Lee Sang-young.
Speaking to Netflix about TYGO, LISA shared,
“I’m so honored to be a part of this project and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such incredible actors. Being in an action film has always been a dream of mine, and for my first movie role to be in such an exciting action film is a dream come true.”
Beyond acting, LISA remains a dominant cultural force. Rising to fame as a member of BLACKPINK, one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, she launched her solo career with LALISA in 2021. Her debut studio album “Alter Ego” debuted at No. 7 on the Billboard 200 and topped the Billboard Top Album Sales chart. She also made her Coachella debut last year and continues to serve as a global ambassador for multiple brands, including Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, and Nike.
With a rom-com on the horizon and an action franchise already underway, LISA’s acting era is no longer a side quest – it’s the main storyline.
