Yesterday (Feb. 9, 2017), Marvel Studios released an epic 10-year-anniversary photo shoot featuring the heroes and villains of the “Marvel Cinematic Universe”, a term coined for the trend of interconnected films following the release of Iron Man in 2008 .
“It felt like being at the Academy Awards or something,” Chris Hemsworth (Thor) said in a behind-the-scenes video of the shoot. “Every person had been in one or all of my favorite films.”
Over 80 actors and filmmakers gathered to Atlanta, Ga., the location of the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War set, to celebrate the occasion. Seated at the front of the photo next to Robert Downey Jr., who plays Iron Man, was Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. Behind them sat Chris Evans, who plays Captain America, and Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee. Other attendees included Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Scarlett Johannson (Black Widow), Jeff Goldblum (Grandmaster), Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts), Tom Holland (Spider-Man), and dozens more.
“I literally am in dead center in the front row,” Downey Jr. said. “And I’m looking around going, ‘Any one of these people can be dead center.'”
Marvel Studios is holding special Instagram/Twitter sweepstakes to celebrate the decade-long accomplishment, with prizes including a trip to the Avengers: Infinity War premiere and a Marvel Studios tour. The company also released a new social media banner to celebrate the main heroes of “The First Ten Years”.
