MNEK continues his return to planet pop in spectacular fashion with the release of his latest single ‘OH NO!! ALL THE BOYS!!’.
Created in collaboration with Jon Shave (Charli XCX, Louise), Nicholas Bowen Headon, Michael Geoffrey Jones and John Mellor, the track arrives hot on the heels of ‘REVERSE!!’ and delivers another all-consuming slice of “audacious, convention-busting pop.”
The second single from ‘BULLDOZER!!’ – MNEK’s first full-length album since 2018’s ‘Language’ – ‘OH NO!! ALL THE BOYS!!’ channels the rush of ’90s house through a lens of bright, maximalist pop production. The result is a pulsating, euphoric anthem about the cringe and chaos of looking back on relationships that didn’t quite go to plan, offering another tantalising glimpse into the world of ‘BULLDOZER!!’.
“I wanted to write a song about the cringe we sometimes feel when we close our eyes and think about past relationships that could have gone better,” MNEK explains of the track. “I’ve been performing it this summer and I think it’s a very relatable song, but also just a huge, very anthemic pop-house banger. I worked on the song’s production with Jon Shave and was really inspired by Livin’ Joy’s ‘Dreamer’ and Black Box’s ‘Ride on Time’ from a sonic POV. I’m excited to get to share more new music from the album and I hope people enjoy it.”
Directed by Khari McCloud, and featuring guest appearances from US comedian Rickey Thomson, ballroom pioneer MikeQ, singer and rapper Miss Ash B and choreographer, Omari Wiles, the singles official music video was at the debut BULLDOZER!! BALL at Ty Tea Venti XL in New York.
