Boundary-pushing trio off bloom have been spending some time off the grid. Now, their return is confirmed.

Today the electro trio of Mette, Mads and Alexander took to Instagram to announce that their first single in almost a year, ‘Am I Insane?’, will hit platforms on May 3rd.

Wiping their Instagram clean from the past years, only a “brb” post from December 2018 staying, it’s the dawn of a new era. The group’s last release, ‘Not Sorry’, one of their most stripped-back efforts to date, came in the summer of 2018. That followed 90s-inspired ‘Love Actually’ and 2017’s jaw-dropping Lover Like Me EP.

Taking full control over their direction, off bloom’s constant twisting and turning of sound is what has kept fans so engaged during their rapid ascension two years ago. Landing massive support slots for the likes of Dua Lipa and ALMA, the chemistry of the trio, fronted by lead-singer Mette’s exuberance, made for electrically effective warm-up sets, winning fans over track by track.

What the new era will bring is anyone’s guess. When speaking to The Courier shortly before the release of Lover Like Me, off bloom were quick to highlight that an album wasn’t on their priorities: “An album format doesn’t really make sense… What’s the difference between spending six months or a year releasing new songs as singles and just doing them all at once – except people are actually going to listen to it!”

However, back then with a string of singles ready to roll out and spending life on the road, it was harder to do so. Having spent months in the studio, maybe things have changed… we’ll have to wait to see.
