New York born and bred singer-songwriter extraordinaire Olive Louise has released her end of year single. Entitled “Special”, the song showcases all the amazing traits the artist is known for, warm and enticing vocal depth and earnest songwriting.
“Special” is a song and story about not feeling like you belong and wanting to leave a situation because you don’t feel comfortable in your own skin. We have all been there, whether it is at a party, social event or even a work circumstance. Olive confides, “Special was written about an amalgamation of experiences where I’ve felt nervous and out of place and had wished I could feel comfortable as myself rather than instantly wishing I could leave. I created this character in the song, this perfect person that comes along, understands how I’m feeling, and says “let’s go look at the view” because that’s what I had almost always wished for in those times.” Having someone to relate to when you feel out of place is so important and life-changing and with “Special”, Olive Louise shares just that. The song begins with dreamy piano and soon Olive sings her introspective lyrics, inviting the listener to be a part of her world. The track showcases soul-barring vocals and timeless rhythms with a heartfelt and honest delivery to boot. “Special” is just another song showing Olive Louise’s tremendous talent and knack for relatability.
Olive Louise is a classically trained musician and prolific songwriter who blends indie pop, folk and Amerciana genres. Her life has been marked by tragedy, losing both her parents before the age of 15. She has channeled her pain and life experiences in her music, creating intimate releases that resonate with listeners across the globe.
