Actress Rachel McAdams has officially joined Hollywood Boulevard’s most enduring landmark. The actor received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on January 20 in Los Angeles, marking a career milestone that arrives more than two decades after her breakout roles reshaped early 2000s pop culture.

The ceremony took place at 6922 Hollywood Boulevard, where McAdams was awarded the 2,833rd star in the Motion Pictures category. Variety deputy awards editor Jenelle Reilly hosted the event, with remarks from director Sam Raimi and actor Domhnall Gleeson, both longtime collaborators. McAdams attended alongside her parents, husband, family members, and special guest Dylan O’Brien.

During her acceptance, Rachel McAdams spoke emotionally about her childhood in St. Thomas, Canada, and thanked her parents for supporting her ambitions long before fame felt possible. She recalled writing them a letter at age eight, asking for help in achieving her dream of performing, a moment that framed the day as personal rather than ceremonial.

“They were of course incredibly supportive. I do want to freeze time for a second because you only get a few of these moments in life to thank you on a stage for everything. All of it… All of it is because of you and the love you gave us and the beautiful childhood you gave us, and for believing in me long before I could grasp how to believe in myself,” she added.

The timing of the honor also reflects a busy chapter in McAdams’ career. The event comes days ahead of the release of Send Help, a psychological thriller directed by Raimi and starring McAdams opposite O’Brien. The film opens in theaters on January 30. McAdams previously worked with Raimi on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where she reprised her role as Dr. Christine Palmer in MCU.

Gleeson, who co-starred with McAdams in the 2013 romantic drama About Time, joined Raimi in highlighting her range and consistency across genres. Since making her Hollywood debut in The Hot Chick in 2002, McAdams has moved easily between studio films, prestige dramas and offbeat projects. Her dual performances in Mean Girls and The Notebook in 2004 solidified her place in the cultural conversation, while later roles in Spotlight earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Beyond film, McAdams continues to cross creative spaces. She earned a Tony Award nomination in 2024 for her Broadway debut in Mary Jane and has appeared on television in HBO’s True Detective. With upcoming projects spanning theatrical releases and streaming, the Walk of Fame recognition reads less like a retrospective and more like a marker of sustained relevance in an industry that rarely offers it.
