Radio 1’s Big Weekend event, which will be taking place on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of May at Powderham Castle, Exeter this year, has already allocated all of it’s 50,000 tickets available for the weekend in just an hour.

Tickets were free and so the allocations were mainly based on location. A majority of tickets were released to those living in Exeter and Teignbridge followed by  reservations made in the surrounding south west area.

The only way into the festival now is through competitions on the radio station during the lead up to the event.

Opportunities will be available from 8am every Saturday and Sunday on Radio 1 from 9th April to 22nd May.

The line up for the Saturday will consist of Bring Me The Horizon, Jake Bugg, Craig David and Chase & Status. Meanwhile Sunday will include acts such as The 1975, Coldplay and Ellie Goulding.       More names are yet to be released to complete the line up.

The BBC have provided a warning for those pretending to be selling fake tickets on certain sites or over social media attempting to prevent people losing large amounts of money as well as reinforcing their policy of no one being allowed to sell on tickets if they have been successful in getting tickets to the event.

The radio station’s Big Weekend event has also visited places such as Norwich, Glasgow and Derry to name just a few over the past thirteen years the festival has taken place. We look forward to seeing what performers this year has in store for us!

Radio 1’s Big Weekend festival will be played live on the radio station and performances will also be available to watch on iPlayer later after the event.
