Claire Richards has released her second solo album, Euphoria. It follows her previous top-ten hit, My Wildest Dreams, released in 2019.
Euphoria lives up to its name. It’s a collection of classic tracks paired with Claire’s powerhouse vocals that make the perfect blend for anyone listening to it to have a good old sing-along.
Claire is well known for loving a ballad, but this new album, is entirely uptempo she presents track after track of songs that make you want to sing and dance.
“I think everybody would expect me to do ballads because I’ve said for so many
years that I just want to stand still and sing songs,” she says when talking about the album.
Euphoria pays homage to some of the amazing female vocalists who helped shape Claire into the pop powerhouse she is today, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Cher, Donna Summers, Olivia Newton-John and her idol Karen Carpenter. “We picked the singers who I absolutely loved growing up, and
who I loved trying to emulate,” she says. “And also the songs that I really used to sing to
death and try and nail in my own way. They’re the songs that I created my voice from.“
Every track on the album you can visualise yourself singing along to it in a club. From the sublime I Surrender to the stunning duet with Australian singer Delta Goodrem, of ‘No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)’, whose vocals compliment Claire’s perfectly creating a showstopping collaboration that just begs to be put on repeat. Then there is Xanadu, Gloria, So Emotional all of which showcase Claire’s vocal prowess exceptionally.
For Euphoria Claire worked with producer Steve Anderson. For over the year they played around with disco sounds, and the project evolved naturally to be what is today. An album that showcases Claire’s own musical journey and showcases a side many won’t have seen of one of the best voices in modern pop history.
