There is no doubt that British singer and songwriter RJ Thompson is very quickly making a name for himself in the music industry. With bucket loads of talent and an even bigger heart, he is rapidly becoming one of the most promising musicians around. And while his previous single may have done well, we have a feeling that his latest release, “The Girl and The Gunman,” is going to completely take off and push him into even more success.
After travelling around the world with several musical legends including The Proclaimers, Midge Ure, Sandi Thom and Jools Holland to name a few, it’s no wonder that RJ is easily inspired. The musician previously stated that he finds the inspiration for his music in a lot of different places and his touring experiences have undoubtedly only fueled that further, but RJ’s biggest inspiration has always been the world around him and his latest single is definitely no exception to that.
RJ penned, “The Girl and The Gunman,” after finding a picture of an unnamed girl on the internet. The picture showed the girl wearing a beautiful dress as she stood in front of a sea of armed police. RJ was immediately drawn to the picture. He was intrigued by the grace and the confidence she showed and he was astounded by how she could stand up for what she believed in in such a peaceful manner. It really struck a chord with him and so, “The Girl and The Gunman,” was born.
RJ Thompson’s addictive new single which is taken from his forthcoming album, “Echo Chamber,” is definitely a real treat for the ears. Aside from the raw passion in RJ’s voice which is unmistakable as he sings about the, “statuesque, luminous,” girl, the track gives off a very cool and almost sultry vibe that is guaranteed to get stuck in your head.
The soulful, funky groove of guitars on the track really set it apart from anything else that is out right now and we absolutely love that, but we want to know what you think about it too… So check out the official music video for, “The Girl and The Gunman,” right here:
