Pop legend Robbie Williams has claimed his 16th UK number one album with Britpop, breaking a huge chart record in the process.
He is now the artist with the most number one albums in UK chart history, surpassing the record held by The Beatles. The only solo studio album released by Robbie not to hit the top spot was 2009’s Reality Killed The Video Star, which peaked at number two.
Speaking exclusively to Official Charts, Robbie says “BRITPOP is the record I’ve always wanted to make, and seeing it become my 16th Number 1 album means everything to me. Thank you to all the fans who have been with me every step of the way. You’ve made my dreams come true.”

Taking his time in Take That into consideration, Robbie has a total of 21 number one albums under his belt. The only person who holds more? The Beatles’ Paul McCartney with 23. This could likely be the next record in Robbie’s sights!
