Two long years have passed since Sam Smith last released any new music and honestly, the charts just haven’t been the same without him. But as the colder autumn months set in, the singer has made an amazing return to the music scene with his latest single, “Too Good At Goodbyes,” which was released a little over a week ago.
We thought the ballad was beautiful enough but when the music video for it dropped this morning, we realised that we had barely scratched the surface.
It took us mere seconds to become fully transfixed by the video which is about as raw as they come, and we couldn’t take our eyes off of it until it had ended. Everything from start to finish was stunning; from the scenery which is gorgeous despite how gloomy the video was made to look, to the way the visuals really bought Sam’s heartfelt lyrics to life.
The video evokes such emotion that you feel as though you are right beside Sam, feeling everything that he is feeling in that moment. This is a talent that only a small number of musicians possess, but Sam definitely has it and he demonstrates it more and more with each music video he releases.
And while Sam Smith may be known for his captivating music videos, we think that, “Too Good At Goodbyes,” is his best one yet. “Too Good At Goodbyes,” is Sam Smith’s comeback single, taken from his forthcoming album which we are already counting down to, despite the fact that it hasn’t even got a release date yet. The track was written with Jimmy Napes and Stargate, and the music video was directed by Luke Monaghan.
The ballad has already made a big impact on the music charts since it was released but we didn’t expect anything less… It went straight to number one on the UK Singles Chart which means that it is officially Sam’s sixth number one in the UK. And since its release, “Too Good At Goodbyes,” has gathered over 4.4 million streams worldwide, proving that we’re not the only ones who are totally in love with it.
